“The prerequisite for all learning is careful observation. One must listen carefully and look thoroughly. Written text may be mysterious, it may conceal an unknown meaning. In the same way, the details of a beetle may contain a message, the call of a tit or a hippie may conceal a hidden message.

The prerequisite for both science and art is free imagination. But we cannot comprehend unstructured chaos. Profound insight requires organizing observations, seeing connections, and noticing patterns. Only if we have the sensitivity to truly open our eyes and ears will we have the opportunity to understand the deeper connections in nature and in ourselves.”

Maija Albrecht is a visual artist and printmaker born in Turku in 1967, who lives and works on the south coast in Inkoo. Albrecht’s primary medium of expression is drypoint drawing. She began her studies in fine arts at the Kankaanpää Art School and graduated with a Master of Fine Arts from the Academy of Fine Arts in 1998. Albrecht began her exhibition activities in 1991 and her works are represented in several art collections, both in Finland and abroad.

The artist’s work and exhibition have been supported by Taike, the Amos Anderson Fund and the Svenska Kulturfonden.
