In his expressive paintings, Ville Välikangas often deals with psychological and existential questions through the human figure. With his works, he strives to convey his feelings, thoughts and worldview to the viewer. Humanity is at the center of Välikanga’s art, but landscape and nature are also constantly recurring motifs. Ville Välikangas often sees the color schemes of his paintings as symbols of emotions. The rhythm and movement of color are also very important in his works. The artist mainly works with oil, but he also paints with watercolor and gouache.
Ville Välikangas lives in Kerava and works in Tuusula. He graduated as a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Lahti Art Institute in 2015 and studied as a visual artist at the Pekka Halonen Academy in 2005-2008. The exhibition at Taidehalli Häme is Välikanga’s eighth solo exhibition.
The exhibition has been supported by the Art Promotion Center.
