Ars-Häme ry summer exhibition
HUMAN PLACE
29.6.-25.8.2024
The theme of the curated summer exhibition organized by Ars Häme ry, which is divided between the Hämeenlinna bus station and the Taidehalli Häme, is thinking about the place of human.
The works in the exhibition reflect on human’s place in the world, which is characterized by human uncertainty, beauty and fragility. Art is a way of looking at these meanings of being here through aesthetic experience, literally making abstract social reality visible.
The exhibition brings together artists whose work embodies mind-shaking wonder before the wonder of being. For the artists in the exhibition, this means, for example, thinking about human’s relationship with nature, dealing with the meaning of language or absurd tragicomics; which reflects the special nature of our being.
The works in the exhibition deal with the theme in particular (1) through the experience of space and (2) through the human sign. Space and place mean the stage of being; to our living world and our immediate ecological environment, of which we are an inseparable part. In works of art, the image of a person, on the other hand, functions as a metaphorical means by which we have expressed – from cave paintings to the present day – questions related to being. The selected artists are united by a highly developed technical and sensual expression, which reflects their deep thinking.
