Henni Kitti
Celestial bodies and circles
6.8.-30.8.2022

Henni Kitti’s exhibition at Taidehalli Häme, Celestial pieces and circles, brings together works created over the past few years, which in one way or another are related to astronomical phenomena, light, roundness and rotation. The rings of Saturn in particular is a theme that has been part of her life for a long time, and Saturn also recurs in the works of the exhibition. Henni often revolves around her subjects for a long time, examining them from different angles and looking for connections between them, following shapes and associations.

Light is often the subject and material in her works, and also in Taidehalli Häme’s works, light is reflected in the viewer’s eye from shiny elements of gold and copper, or from a video projected on the wall. On the other hand, the light is absorbed by the black carbon dust, and the black sky is the all-encompassing backdrop on which the celestial bodies radiate and reflect light. Light and dark areas, white and black circulate in the space and are arranged side by side in ever new ways in the works.

The exhibition consists of drawings, moving images, photographs and texts.
